Contemporary challenges faced by Maritime Education & Training (MET) and Maritime Training Centers (MTC) require effective strategic planning. Yet, not all MTC in Europe encounter the same problems or possess the same resource mix and flexibility of decision-making.

In order to address this multi-faceted problem and assist the decision-makers, the SKILLSEA team developed the following innovative tools.

So, why do we need these tools for MTCs and what are the key challenges that SkillSea project needs to address?

The following tools are based on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). How AHP is applied and why to we use this process?

These tools enable decision-makers to make choices against pre-determined criteria. The designed tools are transparent, expandable, and adjustable to the evolving needs of maritime education and training providers.

These strategy tools have been created in the context of the SkillSea report  D3.4 ‘Internationalized strategies in Maritime Education and Training’. They allow the positioning in terms of critical aspects of the MTCs under consideration and select either an international cooperation strategy based on similarity, or one based on complementarity.
